India v Pakistan 2nd Semi Final Mohali ICC World Cup 2011

So much awaited India v Pakistan game of ICC World Cup 2011 is finally arrived which many experts calling it as “Mothers of Finals”. India who start this game as firm favorite knows what Pakistan team can do to them if they take them lightly and that’s why Indian Captain M.S.Dhoni told in the press conference that any team you will play is bigger than you if they reached till here.
Going by the performance of Pakistan team in the tournament, it will battle between Indian batsmen and Pakistanis bowlers. Pakistanis bowlers especially Umar Gul and their Captain Shahid Afridi is in great form with the ball. So playing these two quietly will be in the minds of Indians first and then see how it goes from there onwards.
The build-up has been intense and to cap it all, the prime ministers of the two nations are going to witness the game from the presidential box of the beautiful stadium. World Cup History’s is in India favor as they have never lost to Pakistan in the mega event. In 1992, 1996, 1999 and 2003 every time they manage to beat Pakistan with some fine bowling or with some outstanding display of batting in 2003 at Centurion.
Both teams know how important this game will be for them. Pakistan wants to tell cricket world that they deserve cricket in their backyard while India after the elimination of big fish like Australia and South Africa feel that they have golden opportunity to lift the Cup for second time after 1983.
India will have edge over Pakistan in many ways, whether it’s batting department or mental toughness because they have reached here after playing some fighting games. Pakistan on the other hand either won there game quite easily or lost them badly (so far only one in this tournament).
If India manages to get control in the earlier overs and later of the game while batting then the chances of winning the game will increase. As we have witnessed in quite a few matches, team struggle to get going during powerplay overs. India who lost seven wickets for 29 against South Africa and 7 wickets for 50 runs against West Indies needs to address this area in the game against Pakistan. Also there fielding needs to perform the same way as they did against Australians to make it tough for Pakistan.
Yuvraj Singh who is playing in front of his home crowd will eye another big knock with his bat to get closer to the Cup that counts. In the bowling department after inclusion of R.Ashwin Indian bowling looked more stable and tight in the last two games, with Zaheer Khan leading the pace attack someone from Nehra or Munaf needs to perform according to their potential.
On the other hand Pakistan batting looked more vulnerable in this tournament. With every batsmen cheeped in here and there but they lack consistency required at this level. Captain Afridi himself is struggling with bat in this tournament along with Younis Khan and Misbah-Ul-Haq.
Bookies are also considering India as favorite to win this game. On WilliamHill they are given the odds of 4/7 for India and 11/8 for Pakistan. But just wait and watch another cracking encounter on the card, history may be against Pakistan at this moment but this is game of cricket and any thing can happen.
Pitch and Conditions
The Pitch at Mohali will provide support to the fast bowlers. As record suggest in past games, out of 135 wickets fallen here 105 wickets taken by fast bowlers and rest by spinners. However the wicket will be good for batting and any team winning the toss have to decide whether to bat or bowl first considering the dew factor in the evening. Also rain can spoil the party of billions of fans who was desperately waiting for this game. On Tuesday night Mohali hit by heavy thunderstorm as well as rain but on match day there is little chance of rain, so hope for the best.
Likely Playing XI for both teams (Match is schedule to begin at 14:30 PM India Time)
With Munaf Patel struggling for form, Ashish Nehra is likely to replace the pacer other than that there is very slick chance of changes in the Indian Squad.
By considering the condition Pakistan is thinking of going with three seam attack. So the choice of third pacer will be between Shoiab Akhtar and W.Riaz. S.Akhtar is still not 100% fit so W.Riaz is likely to get the nod.
India: Virender Sehwag, Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, Yuvraj Singh, MS Dhoni (Captain & WK), Suresh Raina, R Ashwin, Harbhajan Singh, Zaheer Khan, Ashish Nehra
Pakistan: Kamran Akmal (WK), Mohammad Hafeez, Asad Shafiq, Younis Khan, Misbah-ul-Haq, Umar Akmal, Shahid Afridi (Captain), Abdul Razzaq, Saeed Ajmal, Umar Gul, Wahab Riaz.

India knocked Australia out of World Cup 2011

Finally world will have new Cricket World Champions on 2nd of April 2011 after a decade with India beating Australia in a quite remarkable game of cricket. That means three times consecutive world champion will now

have to fly back home after a loss in the 2nd quarterfinal at Motera.
The super star of the day was a man “Yuvraj Singh” who looked in fine tough right from the word go, he first bowled really well and picked up two crucial wickets and then came out all guns blazing hitting Australian fat and furious bowling attack all around the park. Yuvraj Singh scored an unbeaten 57 runs and put on a winning partnership of 74 runs for the sixth wicket with Suresh Raina (34* runs off 28 balls) to get India over finishing line and meet Pakistan in the 2ndth of March 2011. Semi Final of ICC World Cup 2011 on 30
The Australians, who broke the Indian hearts in 2003, had theirs in two pieces on Thursday as India shut the door on the 'former' World Champions to stand just two steps away from their destination at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, holding aloft the World Cup trophy on April 2.
The situation could have been different if Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh got out at the stage where India still needed 74 runs to win in last 13 overs of play. Motera stadium crowd stunned in to the silence when M.S.Dhoni caught brilliantly by M.Clark at point on bowling of Brett Lee in the 38th over.
In the run chase during 31st over to 34h over, Indians tried hard to choke again. With Gautam Gambhir giving Australians as many as three chances to run him out but Australian didn’t capitalize on it. But finally in the 34th over Gambhir manage to get himself out but not before scoring a superb fluent 50 runs off 64 balls. He ran for a non-existent run after Yuvraj Singh had played the ball towards midwicket but Ponting missed the sticks just by whisker. In the next over, he got into a yes-and-no situation with Yuvraj Singh and would have been run out had Brad Haddin thrown the ball at the non-striker's end. Gautam Gambhir was run out next ball, again running mindlessly after Yuvraj stabbed David Hussey wide delivery just couple of steps away from the Cameron White standing at first slip but this time White able to throw at correct end and Gambhir found more than a feet short from the crease.
Chasing the target of 261 for win India got off to great start by both Sachin Tendulkar (53 runs) and Virendra Sehwag (15 runs). Both put on 44 runs for the first wicket before Sehwag miscuite a pull straight in the air in the 9th over. However Sachin Tendulkar kept his cool to reach his 93rd ODI fifty and in between he crossed 18000 run marks.
Earlier Australia Captain Ricky Ponting scored a superb hundreds to guide his team to get to 260 runs in the 50 overs. This was Ricky Ponting 5th World Cup hundred and 29th in ODI. Brad Haddin (53 runs) and David Hussey (38 runs) also provided good support to his captain to guide Australia to a competitive total.
With this win now India will take on Pakistan in the 2nd Semi Final of World Cup at Mohali on 30th of March 2011.
Yuvraj Singh was declared Player of the Match for his all-round effort. First with ball he picked up two wickets and then made unbeaten 57 runs off 65 balls.

India v West Indies at Chennai ICC World Cup – India look for win before knockout game

Both teams will look forward to win this game before advancing into knockout stage starting from 23rd of March 2011. Win here will certainly help the morale of the team going into the quarter final. Win for India will allow them to meet Australia in the quarterfinal and West Indies will play Pakistan but if result goes other way then India will play Sri Lanka and West Indies will play Australia in the quarterfinals.
Going into this game there are lot of question needs to be answered for the Indian. There batting department despite of solid start given by there openers, middle order failed to capitalize on the same. There bowling looked ordinary despite of consistency from Zaheer Khan and Yuvraj Singh.
India will treat this game to fine tune their bowling and batting combination. Because they know one failure can lead to another and they don’t want to repeat the mistakes they have done so far in the earlier games.
Indian fielding is some how improving and that is good sign for the Indians. The opening pair has delivered almost on every occasion in the tournament and that’s why Indians opening pairs are two of the leading run scorer in the tournament.

India has tried various combinations, fans and media have been crying out for the inclusion of offspinner Ravichandran Ashwin — who is yet to play. But Sunday match is likely to give chance to R.Ashwin to play in front of his home crowd.
Batsman Suresh Raina could also play a role, also at his home venue, as India hopes to finally settle on its ideal combination ahead of the quarterfinals — where there will be no more room to experiment.
On the other hand West Indies who entered this tournament as underdogs will look to get a win here and get into the knockout stage with lost of confidence. However they know they have big work load ahead. They need Chris Gayle and K.Pollard to fire to post a challenging total for the Indians to chase down or to achieve the target.
As a bowling unit West Indies has performed well in the tournament with S.Benn and K.Roach performing consistently.
All in all a good game on the card on Sunday.
Pitch & Conditions
The Pitch at Chepauk will be the most spin friendly wicket India came across in this world cup and that will be great news for the Indians. Also fast bowler will get the required reverse swing with the old ball. Team winning the toss is likely to bat first and put runs on the board. Any score from 240-250 will be considered comparative total on this wicket.
Likely Playing XI for both teams (Match is schedule to begin at 14:30 PM India Time)
With injury to dashing opener Virendra Sehwag it’s likely that Suresh Raina may get a chance in place of him. Ashish Nehra fitness is still in doubt so R. Ashwin might get a chance to partner Harbhajan Singh on a wicket which likely to help spinner.
West Indies on the other hand is likely to get into the game with same XI unless S.Chanderpaul declared himself fit which has played against England in the last game.
India: Sachin Tendulkar, Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni (Captain & WK), Yuvraj Singh, Yusuf Pathan, Suresh Raina, Harbhajan Singh, R.Ashwin, Zaheer Khan, Munaf Patel.
West Indies: Chris Gayle, Devon Smith, Darren Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Kieron Pollard, Darren Sammy (Captain), Devon Thomas (WK), Andre Russell, Sulieman Benn, Kemar Roach, Devendra Bishoo
